Healthcare in Vietnam is progressing at a fast pace. Currently, it is among the cheapest healthcare systems in the world. The government has taken many steps to improve the standard of healthcare in the country.

The government is trying to promote healthcare access by ensuring that every rural family can access quality health services. At present, it is aiming for a fully functional healthcare system that provides diagnosis, medicines, surgical and rehabilitative services. Over the last decade, Vietnam has made great strides towards healthcare access, and there is now more trained medical staff than before. At present, at least 71.5% of the rural population had private health insurance.

Another way of promoting healthcare in Vietnam is through the implementation of Healthcare Management Alternatives (HMA). This is a program set up by the government to train qualified healthcare managers to coordinate healthcare services in rural communities.
