Seniors who often fall or roll out of bed are at an increased risk of injury. While bed rails may work for some individuals, those who become confused may try to climb over them, further increasing these risks. For these individuals, a low floor bed may be the best choice. These beds are specifically designed to reduce the risk of injury should one fall or roll out of the bed. Since it is low, rolling onto the floor is less likely to result in a fracture or other type of significant injury. It may also be easier for those with certain health conditions such as osteoarthritis or other ailments affecting mobility to climb in and out. As with other types of beds, there are various mattress types to choose from, including those which may be softer or firmer to help ensure comfort.
