Mobile phones have become pervasive; more and more people use them and cell tower companies compete for which can offer the best service and coverage. This means that cellular providers need more cell towers to achieve this and the coming 5G standard will only make the demand for them increase.
A cell tower lease is an agreement between a person that has landed (or a building) and a cellular provider that wants to build a cell tower on it and/or install other cellular communication support equipment. Depending on the location of the specific site and the competition for it, these leases can be quite lucrative for the owner and represent an opportunity to make money.
Not all sites, however, are created equal and some sites command much more than others. Lease rates are typically dependent on the type of lease, the importance of the site for the network, and whether there are alternative sites available nearby.
