A carbon footprint refers to the total amount of carbon gas emissions that a product or service results in. An individual’s carbon footprint mainly comes from transportation, housing and food. In an effort to reduce carbon footprint you can take some of the following actions:
• Hang out your washing instead of using a dryer
• Turn down your heating system by a small amount
• Walk or ride a bike instead of using a car wherever possible
• Use less water when showering
• Turn off electrical devices when you are not using them
• Think about how much you spend on clothes each year and whether you can reduce this
• Avoid holidays where you need to fly to the destination
• Regularly service your car so that it runs efficiently and uses the least amount of petrol possible; also consider buying an electric car to save on petrol entirely
