By now, most people are aware of the benefits of meditation on overall health and well-being. What we may not be aware of is the importance of using breath alongside meditation for optimal results.
There’s more to meditation than just simply taking a comfortable position and focusing deeply to the sound of a soothing voice, nature sounds or music. The most important part of the whole process is your breathing.
Employing meditation breathwork to your practice is harder than it sounds. It requires knowing how to do it properly and much practice to get it right.
Breathing is something that comes naturally to us but it may come as a surprise to learn that most of us are not doing it correctly in order to get the most benefits. We are rushed, we are busy, we are stressed. These things result in shallower breathing and it’s those deep breaths that have the most benefit during meditation.
