Bladder incontinence can be an embarrassing hassle that interferes with day-to-day activities, but it doesn’t have to be. Statistics indicate that bladder control exercises can greatly improve if not eliminate this problem for many who suffer from this condition. Performing these exercises as little as five minutes, 2-3 times week at a minimum can improve urinary incontinence. However, some may choose to do these exercises for just a few minutes daily. Another important consideration is that it may take a while to see results. Most can expect improvement within 1-3 months but this can vary by the individual, the type of exercises and how often they are performed. While exercises that target the muscles of the pelvic floor can promote bladder control, it is still important to consult with the primary care provider to rule out other health conditions that may be contributing to incontinence.
