The South Island resort of Queenstown in New Zealand has become one of the world’s leading adventure travel destinations, attracting tourists from all over the world. Bungy jumping is said to have originated here, and today you can choose from dozens of jump options, including the country’s highest at almost 135 meters. The world’s highest swing is here too, along with the largest human catapult in the world. If you prefer your adventures on the ground, Queenstown has plenty more to offer and jet boating, kayaking and white water rafting tours are all popular. Mountain biking and hiking are offered by several companies, as well as a variety of day trips to the spectacular and picturesque Milford Sound. Queenstown and the nearby area are also home to four world class skiing destinations, and helicopter skiing, snowboarding and glacier hiking are all available as well as simply skiing.
