A Career In Food Photography

If you have an eye for detail and enjoy taking photos, a career in food photography may be an option. It’s one of many specialized areas of photography, and those employed are responsible for all those mouth-watering pictures of meals and other food products that many advertisers rely on. Of course, a background in photography and some expertise with photographic equipment and techniques are a must, including knowing how to effectively stage and light your subject, although there are no formal educational requirements. The average salary in this field is around $35,000 although some photographers make much more, and working for yourself is a realistic option. A love of food is probably helpful too, and being well organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with computers, patient, and willing to travel or spend hours getting that perfect shot are all preferred requirements too.
